Wayne Rooney Sent Off -- England-Portugal --World Cup 2006JohnShocked2 min - 11-03-2007During an unusual struggle allowed to proceed by Referee Elizondo between Rooney and Carvalho, Rooney is initially intent-to-injure fouled by Carvalho on his right ankle, then when Carvalho realizes that the referee will not call that kick down a foul he re-approaches and knees Rooney in the head, then Rooney steps on Carvalho (perhaps accidentally). Clearly this referee was allowing a great deal of physicality in this particular struggle. (Keep in mind that the replays in this clip are slowed down, so it is not clear at full speed whether the 'stomp' was intentional or not, to viewers or to the referee. Viewers should focus on the live full speed footage.). It is visible that just before the alleged stomp, the referee blows his whistle and gestures indicating a foul against Rooney. What violation could Rooney have made prior to the alleged stomp ? Then incredibly, while the Referee Elizondo is deciding what punishment if any to mete out, and after Rooney has collected his emotions and raised his hands to indicate that he knows the referee might be about to judge him, Rooney decides to push another player Cristiano Ronaldo, essentially demanding the referee to send him off. From this 62nd minute on, the England team was forced to play with 10 men against 11 for Portugal. This incident transformed the match into a defensive struggle with England defending its own penalty area and only going forward for corners and free kicks. Portugal failed to score for the next 30 minutes, plus another 30 minutes of overtime, but predictably won the Penalty Kicks tie breaker, with England shooting and missing on tired legs. This one incident, decided the outcome of the match and thus this whole Sports event went to waste. Clearly, Rooney and the referee Elizondo were involved in corruption to Fix the Outcome of this match, which put Portugal into the WC 2006 Semifinal against France. England has a huge Organized Crime Gambling problem, which sometimes leads to players and referees being paid off to arrange Sent Offs and thereby decide the outcome of matches so gambling addicts lose their money to the Organized Crime bookmakers. In 2005, in Germany, there was a huge scandal in which referees (e.g. Robert Hoyzer) and players were fixing matches, just like this. http://www.nzherald.co.nz/event/story.cfm?c_id=524&objectid=10008787
